kayaks

What we did for this ask was we had to design a kayak by using a site. It was rally cool the reason why we did this was because we are learning about boats and Maori boats. I really enjoyed this!

Task Description: What I had to do for this task was actually learn about Maori boats first and pacific boats too. Then I got to do more with kayaks and boats. I had to design these 2 boats with a lot of detail. This was really fun!

Maths problems

Task Description: So what I did was I got forced to learn about fractions. As some people already know I don't really like fractions. I would per fir times table or even decimals, but I learned that fractions are similar to times tables. So I had to go through other presentations and they were all fractions. The good thing was I managed to finish all of them. Check it out I really enjoyed it, I hope you enjoyed it too!. 

Food critic

Salty crunch  
If I was a salty chocolate lover I would love this chocolate, but I didn’t.

This salted caramel chocolate is known to be called hokey pokey and the brand it comes from is Cantibury.  This chocolate cost $5 dollars and this is the only flavour of its kind. This chocolate has chunks of hokey pokey.

It smelt good so I was really enjoying it. It felt good it wasn’t weird.Popping the chocolate in my mouth I had a good feeling about it. Then I felt hard bits of hokey pokey coming against my gum. I hate salted chocolate so at first I thought it was going to be delicious, because of the all of the chocolate melting in my mouth.

For the chocolate that I ate I would have to say that the brand should improve to not make it that salty.  The brand should improve putting less chunks even though that is the point of the chocolate which is hokey pokey. I still wouldn’t want that much hokey pokey in there.


To judge this chocolate I have to give it a 4.  I loved the chocolate, but not the caramel hokey pokey. I would never eat this again.

Task Description: What I did for this task was, we all had to taste test each chocolate some of us had the same one and some of us had different ones. I was so nervous we all went through this doc all together that showed what it felt like, smelt like, what it looked like. Then finally we got to taste the chocolate. While we were eating it we had to think about how it tasted while it was in our mouth. I didn't really like it, but if you are a salty lover then you would really love it. Hope you enjoy my story.

looks easy but trust me it’s not.

Everyone participated and had fun. We all were excited to make the ice cream and to eat it People were so excited that they rushed it, and their ice-cream tasted like salt.

Castaway story

Walt: Write from the 1st perosn
Opening my eyes seeing birds flying around up in the beautiful sky. I got up hoping that somebody could possibly be there, I couldn’t believe it was just me there. I walked around admiring the beautiful island noticing delicious crabs, scary bugs and hairy spiders. I was terrified.

After admiring the island I got wood and used my useless boat that had popped from the rocks and hard objects. I made a squared house out of wood twigs and sticks. I got fronds and weaved them to make the sticks and wood stay together. Then I ripped my boat and put it over my square shaped house so if water came on top I wouldn’t get wet. I thought to myself I guess this is what it feels to be the only one alive, I really hope someone could save me.


Sitting for a couple of  minutes I thought that someone was there. Until I noticed it was my stomach grumbling for food. I got rocks and a long, thin piece of wood. I sharpened the wood at the end to make it look like a spear, I made a couple more for other occasions. I washed off, then two delicious crabs came around I got my dangerous spear and threw it at one of them. Then I quickly got the spear out of the hurt crab and threw it at the other crab. I made fire with twigs wood and rocks it took a long time, but I managed to make it, I cooked the crab and had a good feast.

I really really wanted to get off this island so I decided to write the word help on the golden sand so people could help me If they passed by, like anyone was. I thought that wasn’t good enough. So I was so dramatic I wrote sos ( save our souls) all over the place that was how much I wanted to get off the island. I then made smoke so people could tell that someone was on this island. I struggled to make smoke I got green leaves and sticks to help, It was really hard but thank goodness I made some smoke.

I tried finding some objects to make clothes and more food ,I had never felt this hungry before. Suddenly I heard a loud noise that was really really annoying. It was a helicopter coming passed the island so I yelled as loud as I could and I was waving my hands. He came near me and the wind was so strong that  it broke down my house, but I wouldn’t need it any longer. The person threw me down a ladder. I climbed up I thanked him so much and I was so happy to go back home again.

Task Description: What the class did was we all had to write each paragraph together so we didn't rush and make mistakes without anyone helping. We then edited each one as we were writing. Then once we finished our story. We got a buddy to check and we fixed up the mistaked bits. We then had to do a DLO. My DLO is the picture that you can see. We also saw clips of the movie Castaway. It was realy funny. Hope you enjoy my story!

Immersion assembly 2017

WALT: using exciting language

Walking into the school hall now that's thinking was pictured up on the big screen. Each teacher was carrying/wearing at least one thing. On a table there were cool devices, I was so excited about all the teams topic.

Our school topic Now that's thinking is about technology. Each team had amazing ideas some teams actually had the same ideas, like how team 1-3 looked like they were going to have fun making breathtaking kites. Team 5 topic was about fixing things around the school. Their act was hilarious.

Team 4 topic is about what kind of technology maori people used before pakeha people even arrived on New Zealand. Our movie was about how our creative teachers thinking back in time for a topic for team 4. Each of our teachers came up with extraordinary ideas. They each were amazed that some of the helpful creations that are created now, weren’t even created until 1979 or even 1885.

I would really be so excited to make robots that can burn dirty rubbish into dirt, and make more healthy plants to help stop pollution. I hope we could learn about or even make creations that represent ourselves, and not even make it, it would also be cool to carve it out. Thinking about all these fun things I want to do this term is making my cheeks blush with excitement.
Even though term 2 hasn’t even had a first week yet I am already excited. I am excited about all the things I am going to create and learn about. I have a good feeling about this term.

Task Description: This term is going to be amazing I can tell that each team is going to have fun during this term. I just can't imagine people not enjoying this year. This term has been so exciting even though it hasn't been the first week yet!

Estuaries and Ecosystem

This term I learnt about ecosystems and right now I have figured out what estuaries mean.  An ecosystem is a food web that shows what theses animals do to help our environment. So for example Birds help us in many ways so what birds do is it would eat seeds, and then it would actually poop and make trees. If there is more trees than there is more insects. So this year I actually made bird feeders, because no birds than no trees.  Back to estuaries, estuaries is when there is fresh water coming together with the salt water.

Task Description: I was actually meant to do a movie, but since it is the end of the year I couldn't use the I macs. So instead I had to do a blog post about estuaries and ecosystems. I was really upset that I couldn't do the movie, but the good thing is that I managed to do it properly. This script will be coming out in my movie next term. Hope you enjoy!

M.I.T ( Manukau. Institute. Technology )



As being an Ambassador we got to go to M.I.T.  I was so happy that we got to go on another trip. I had a lot of funon the van and at M.I.T. I would also like to say thank for the lollies that they gave us. And I would also like to say thank you to the teachers.

Extension maori tribe movie



This is a DLO (Digital Learning object) that I had created with others in my extention class. The group that I was in was the Maori tribe group. The Maori tribe group represents all the cultural people and how they handle there pollution in there areas. Some people say that the cultural people does not have to deal with pollution, but do they? Anyways here is the movies we made. Thanks and enjoy.

Paidea Seminar

The year 5/6 extension group were doing a Paidea seminar. This looks like having different groups and each group has an friendly argument with each other. I was in a group called the Maori tribe which is like a cultural group. Each group also did a movie, which you can check out here, and my movie was about how Maori people managed to live back in the day.

The Paidea seminar was really cool. We each got time to talk and we also had treats every time we talked or asked questions. I can say that we struggled, but it was only a practice so next time it will be easier for us because we have all ready done it. When we do Paidea seminar again I think that I will be a lot better than I was before, and that I will encourage my group instead of just letting them talk and talk.

Having to do the Paidea seminar is really cool, because it is a time that we can all share our ideas that we have been really wanting to share. I am not much of a shy person, but seeing me doing the Paidea seminar on video was really different because I never knew other people had a lot of cool ideas about their focus groups. Next time I am really looking forward. Would you like to participate in a Paidea seminar?

Eating crickets at school!

Walt: write narrative using descriptive language.


Have you ever tasted dead crickets at school before? When our class sat on the mat. Our teacher showed us a video of a girl eating crickets. I was so confused that I said to my friend “ did our teacher have too much coffee or what!”. I haven’t did this before, but maybe it might be as easy as it looks.  
When the video was done it was time to eat the crickets. As My teacher came around tipping the disgusting looking crickets. I was so scared to even touch it, but it was time I picked one up before anyone even touched it. Then I gave it a go I was absolutely petrified, But then I had a few more it was still yuck. The weird thing was I ate 12 crickets!
I am so happy that it is over. If I had to do that again I am pretty sure I could be confident, but I wouldn't do it if I had to eat a handful. Funny and weird thing to say, I wouldn't mind doing it again.
Task Description: What we had to do was just get straight into it. We watched a video about a girl eat 3 crickets Alive!. Lucky our one was dead. But I am so happy that it is over.

My own food web

This is my food web. It is not a spider web with bugs on it. IA food web can be made by anyone but this is created by me. My food web only has native NZ insects/bugs. The food web is about what the insects/bug eats and I also made my own Arachnida and My own bug. I called my Arachnida ( Spider ) The Imitation sicronym. I also gave a name to my bug which was a butterfly it’s name was Cradashia. My spider jumping and it can pretend to be something so it can eat it’s prey. The butterfly is a normal butterfly but when it turns red it is a warning. When it turns orange  then it means it is scared. So my food web has different kind of animals, bugs or insects. It also has birds and fishes.

Task Description: My task was to make my own food web but the was the animals were only allowed to be native in NZ bugs, Insects or even animals. I had to write a doc about what a food web is. Who will win?

There was once a Beautiful scaled butterfly. The reason why it is called the scaled butterfly is because it has scales and when enemies come near it it can turn red and push it scales out to scare it away. For a butterfly it is really easy to find food because this butterfly lives in the forest where there are a lot of plants.


On that day The butterfly landed on a flower to suck some delicious nectar out of the beautiful flower. Suddenly a horrible disgusting looking jumping spider came. It pretended to be a flower it’s name was imitation sicronym. It’s name sounds so harmless  but it is really tricky it has eaten a lot of insect then you think. As the butterfly comes near imitation sicronym a giant grasshopper jumps in. It grabs the butterfly's body and eat it all up with the wings left out.

The spider tries to escape but it was too late. The grasshopper leaps over with it’s long legs and grabs the imitation sicronym before it was too late. Then the Grasshopper ate it with tiredness. The grasshopper was the only one to live.

I love being an Ambassador








I just can't stop thinking about how much fun us Pt England ambassadors had. I can't stop think about it so I am deciding to do another blog post about it. I am so blessed that I got a 30 dollar gift card to the movies. But since I care and I didn't really know what to use it for I gave it to my friend because it was her birthday. I would also like to give a big shout out to Will who gave me the gift card. But not only him also the other  people who encouraged us. Thank you so much! I had so much fun!!

My own spider

Information about  imitation sicronym:
This spider is no ordinary spider. As a spider it would be hairy and thin and some might be harmless. But this one isn’t. It takes a deadly bite if it is near a human being. It can jump, it squares is it’s weak side. It lives in hot places. Beware of the imitation sicronym

Task Description: So what we had to do was. Read some articles when I mead some I mean a lot. When we got a lot of information about insects and bugs and SPIDERS. Then we had to make up our own spider my one was called imitation sicronym. It looks harmless but beware of it. It pretends it is something else but really it isn't then it captures insects and eats it.

Math problems

Another ( maybe the best) Ambassador interview ever ( N4L Vistors!)

It happened again. The Ambassador got to go to the City so we didn't have to stay at our school and do a presentation there, we did it in the City.

These people made me laugh, smile and me made me love them too much. They were so nice that they gave us thank you cards that had a 30 dollar movie gift card. I was mind blown and was just too lucky for this.  Also thank you to Will who gave it to me and not only him also Mrs Stuart. And all of the others. I hope to meet these exciting people again. I invented a new insect

Screenshot 2017-03-21 at 10.30.37 AM.pngA Cradashia is very easy to attack people. In many ways if you touch it in a hard way it will turn orange and that is how you know it is scared. If you try to kill it it will turn red and attack butterflies may be harmless but this one isn’t. It lives in cold places with trees.  As you know already it is sometimes gentle but at other times it can get really angry easily.

Bike saftey

Today we got a surprise from our teacher.  5 of us that got picked to go out on the bike track. It was Awesome!

First we had to sit down and talk about the important things you need. Your shoes, and your helmet. I really learnt a lot about shoes which was you Have to wear closed shoes not Sandals and not bare feet, otherwise your feet might get grated, just like a cheese on a cheese grater. I learnt that when you buy a helmet you should always check if there is a sticker that say certified product. Before you ride you must always check when you hold it a little tight that it doesn't have cracks, and you have the straps done up properly.

Riding on the bikes was really fun. I had to make sure that when some one is at the front of me, that I have made enough room for them to come in case they are going to stop. We also learned how to stop safely, by using both brakes.

 My favourite part of the day was when I was riding and got to the zig zaged bridge. I accidentally stopped and made my friend Naomi fall. No one cried or was hurt, but we did laugh.


Task Description: 5 people got picked and I was one of them. We talked about what we had to do before we got to ride on the bikes. When we finished the lesson about our foot wear, Helmet, obviously checking our bike and we also just talked about safety tips. The we got to ride!

Year 5 and 6 highlights

Walt: write about our experiences on camp.

Have you ever been camping on your school school field before?  Well I have trust me it is actually really fun. Oh sorry that I haven’t introduced myself my name is Daisy. Well believe or not this is my 2nd time going to camp. Oh and my school has been camping for 27 years. Yes I know Amazing!

At camp we sleep in tents with 2-4 people. I slept with one person and the good thing is she is my friend Makayla. Other people have camp when like it is for 2 weeks or something, but my camp it is different it is from Wednesday to Friday then it is over. To me it felt like it was like week being at camp. Doing camp is for kids to have time of school and just have fun with our teachers.

My favourite part about camp was actually kayaking. This is because kayaking is really fun. I got to go around this pole in the water couple of times. My friend Trendy was on fire, she went around the pole and back like.. Well I can’t even remember she made it look so easy, but the rest of us were struggling a little bit. Another highlight of camp that I really liked was the maungarei pools. It was really fun because there was the water park where there was like objects with water coming out I really liked the bucket water place, because it will tip water on you after 3 seconds.

Camp wouldn’t happen if it wasn’t my family  so I would like to say a Big thank you to my parents for helping me get to camp. Oh and I wouldn’t forget my teacher thank you to all of the teacher s who stayed up at night to help us sleep and go toilet. So thank to all the parents and teachers especially Mr Burt who started camp. How could I forget my team the best team you will ever know the team who represents Mr Burt the Principal's my team worked so hard that we came 3rd I mean it is better than coming nothing. Also congratulation to Mr Burt for the 27 annual camp of Pt England.

Being in camp was a big opportunity I learnt that I could improve more about me respectful to my team. I would like to say sorry if I was bossy to anyone in my team but yeah thanks for trying your best everywhere we went together as a team. A lot of kids should go camp because you could have fun instead of doing learning every year with nothing happening but assembly and prizegiving. I really enjoyed camp this year and I hope other people will when they become year 5 or 6.
